Birdlife Eurobirdwatch 22. 30th Anniversary
The Gibraltar Ornithological & Natural History Society will be celebrating the 22 edition of the Birdlife EuroBirdwatch on Saturday the 1st of October.
Activities on the Saturday the 1st October will include a visit to the Jews' Gate Field Centre where bird ringing will take place in the morning. Raptors will also be on display at the Tovey Cottage interpretation Centre. There will also be an opportunity to see raptor migration when, during westerly winds, raptors will migrate south to Africa. If the winds are easterly with levanter cloud, then Booted and Short-toed Eagles will be seen overhead.
This will be followed by the traditional seawatch, at Europa Point at 15:00hrs, where we can expect migration of shearwaters , gulls and terns, and the possibility of a feeding frenzy of gulls and shearwaters chasing flying fish offshore, as has been observed on previous EuroBirdwatch outings.
