NATURAL HISTORY COURSE

2009 Course Outline

We regret that the Spring Course will not now be proceeding, but, provided there is sufficient interest, GONHS is planning a Natural History Course in the autumn of 2009.

Subjects covered will include birds, plant life, marine life, bats, caves and cliffs, conservation and invertebrates. Suggestions for further subjects welcome.

Our talks will be held at The Cottage, Alameda Botanic Gardens, usually starting at 7.30pm and finishing around 9.00pm. Starting time for weekend outings and assembly points will be settled at the preceding Thursday talk.

We'll also give you handouts summarising the main points of each theme after each talk.

If you want to attend the course we'll ask you pay a fee of £20 (or £10 if you're under 16 years old) before we confirm registration. This is necessary for us to be able to keep your place, we were let down by people registering and then not turning up for our first two courses.

Preparation: no prior experience is necessary. We recommend that you bring a pair of binoculars for the bird outing and you will need a torch and stout footwear for the caves & cliffs outing.

You may also bring your cameras to all the outings and to the invertebrates talk, as this includes a visit to our invertebrates collection.
